Just Like Today

Lyrics

Sun came dancing through the blinds God's word open by my side Dad said, "Give your best, then smile Winning only lasts a while" Shoes tied up, we hit the street Talking big and racing feet You got there a step ahead I just laughed at what you said Nothing gold was in our hands Still, we had everything Could tomorrow feel like today? Blue sky, no clouds in the way A little faith, a little fun Dad's old wisdom in the sun I know the light has got to change But I wish that it could stay If tomorrow needs a place to start Let it start just like today Cold drinks sweating on the stairs Summer moving through the air One more game, I called it mine You said, "Prove it one more time" Evening settled soft and slow Golden on the road back home Read one verse before the night Felt those simple words come alive Nothing perfect ever stays That's what makes a perfect day Could tomorrow feel like today? Blue sky, no clouds in the way A little faith, a little fun Dad's old wisdom in the sun I know the light has got to change But I wish that it could stay If tomorrow needs a place to start Let it start just like today Maybe heaven leaves a trace In the ordinary days In every race and every prayer In knowing who was with me there Let tomorrow feel like today Warm light falling on my face God's good word inside my heart Dad beside me at the start Even when the colors fade I can carry them away And tomorrow, when the sun comes up I'll go looking for today I'll go looking for today Just one more perfect day
